Los Angeles, CA -- When high school freshman Javier Trujillo asked for a pair of skinny jeans for his 15th birthday, his father's longstanding suspicion that Javier is gay had come true.
"Part of me always knew, and if I could go back to the earliest signs, I'd say the gayness started at age 6. That's the age when he first refused to take sips of beer, stopped listening to corridos, started crying during every Chucky movie, and when he started helping his mother wash the dishes," stated Javier's father Daniel Trujillo.
Mr. Trujillo says he made his peace about having a gay son and decided to wait for the day when he would finally come out of the closet
so he could see what an amazing, tolerant, and accepting father he has.
Yet, 9 years later, Mr. Trujillo was growing impatient with his son's lack of courage to come out and say he is gay. Convinced that he was almost there and just needed a little nudging, he decided to throw him a surprise Quinceañera for his 15th birthday in the hopes that the extravagant party and exposure would tap into his son's inner queen and encourage him to finally own up to being gay.
"I had been waiting patiently for him to come out, but he had been dragging it along, taking his sweet time," said the 38 year-old father of three. "But once he asked for a pair of skinny jeans, I knew he was tantalizingly close and just needed a little push."
The Quinceañera was scheduled for Saturday, May 6, at a dance hall in Los Angeles on Long Beach and Vernon. Javier was lead to the venue by his friends under the guise of going to a last-minute party. There were damas, caballeros, and even a chambelan de honor to pair up with Javier.
The party is said to have been incredible, and Javier had a blast. Unfortunately, we can't say the same for Mr. Trujillo, who seemed disappointed to learn during the "baile sorpresa" that his son is in fact not gay, but is instead someone who is very confident and comfortable with his sexuality.
"Who would have though that it was the chambelan de honor who turned out to be gay. He always seemed so manly and hyper-masculine compared to my little Javier. No wonder he was so excited about throwing my son this surprise party and being his chambelan de honor," stated Mr. Trujillo.
